be creative

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Very often we tend to use our time only to consume more and more. Have you thought how rewarding getting creative yourself can be?

I want to show you three different ways to spend your time without TV! I will cover three different fields, so everyone can pick something that suits him or her. The three different fields are stargazing, knitting and making a photo calendar.

My first idea for spending a good time is go out and have a look at the stars! Our universe is such a fascinating place. Even without any equipment, this can give you hours of joy. And if you invest in a telescope for beginners you will see much more on the night sky – wonders that cannot be seen with the bare eye suddenly appear from where formerly nothing seemed to be…

The second idea, although I must admit that most probably this will appeal more to women, is to knit a nice looking cap or socks for the colder season. A fine set of instructions can be found on wunderfaser.de, the section is called Socken stricken. I personally own one of those (to be honest, it was a present, but it was made using these instructions…)

The third idea for you creative minds out there is to make a photo calender with your own pictures. It is done using all free software. The instructions and the software can be found on www.naturfotokalender.de (section: Kalender selbst gestalten.)

I hope you like my tips for a creative time! Go and do something yourself, you will be proud of it!

Different Ways To Lose Weight

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Everyone over a healthy weight range wants to lose weight quickly. The problem with most people is that they don’t want to work to weight – they just want the magic pill. But no magic pill to lose weight actually exists yet. You are always going to have to do at least some dieting and exercise in order to burn the fat. Still, there are some products that can help accelerate the process, such as acai burn

Before you engage in an acai berry weight loss procedure (or ANY weight loss product for that matter), you need to do your homework. That means reading up on trusted sources, seeing your doctor, and consulting medical professionals that actually know what they’re talking about.

Also, it’s important to take it slow at first. If you are morbidly obese then it won’t be physically possible for you to do a marathon (and it won’t be easy to go from eating chocolate cake all day to eating low-fat foods). The phrase “no pain, no gain” doesn’t necessarily apply to weight loss. You can lose weight while enjoying yourself at the same time, and in fact the most effective weight loss plans don’t involve you going through torture everyday in order to get into shape.

One thing you may want to try when losing weight is acai berry juice, since it has a really nice taste (just don’t expect it to magically turn you into a supermodel). Just remember to see your doctor before following any medical advice online.

Looking for a Financial Advisor?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

When looking for a financial advisor, it can be very complicated to find a trusted personality who will provide sincere analysis and guidance to your decision-making in your investment choices. Look for these sets of criteria when searching for your financial advisors.

Start by scrutinizing their education and experience on finance management. Are they recommended by friends or trusted peers? Do they have familiar clients who have entrusted them with their transactions?

Veteran financial advisors have both the education and experience. Education provides them with the necessary knowledge in our complex global financial system. Since their main function is to gather financial information, analyze it, and make recommendations, they should be well an expert in the field already.
Moreover, their experience is a very good indication of their confidence to guide you through great deals. With their experience, you will definitely notice that these persons spend a lot of time working with people. Thus, they really developed their communication skills.

Another consideration you should always iron out is to resolve how these advisors are paid. Expect financial advisor to be paid in three different ways. When taking his time and using his expertise, you can expect to pay him with an hourly rate, a monthly retainer, or commission-based. Be very keen with your agreement in payments so as to avoid ending up regretting your choice.

As a tip, prefer the hourly rate or monthly retainer rather than paying your advisor on a commission basis. Usually, when paid with commission on trades, they may recommend changes, which can be unnecessary or even harmful, in your portfolio. This is because they have the motive of increasing their commission payments. This is what we need to avoid getting a biased and probably bad investment deals.

Your main purpose in getting a financial advisor is for an expert to guide you in intelligent decision-making. As their role is to assist you in the planning and arrangement of financial affairs, such as your retirement provisions, you need to have a loyal one behind your back. By ensuring the financial advisor’s track record with his career, you will found out that he will certainly understand your financial situation in the first place.

Finance can be very intimidating and a good financial advisor will be responsible to make sure that a client’s risk is minimized. By taking the time to look for the best financial advisor, you prevent yourself from a future of stress and frustrations.

How to Find Information on Natural Remedies

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Are you interested in using natural remedies to your advantage?  If you are suffering from pain associated with a headache, toothache, or arthritis, you may be.  Home remedies can also provide assistance with those looking to kill head lice, remove an unsightly wart, and so much more.  In fact, that is one of the reasons why home remedies are so popular, because they can be used to treat, cure, or seek relief for a number of minor medical complications.

If this is the first time that you are looking to try a home remedy, you may be unsure as to how you should proceed.  When getting started, it is important to remember that home remedies come in a number of different formats.  This means that a home remedy used to treat a headache may not provide relief for a toothache.  That is why it is important that you do the proper amount of research before trying a home remedy.

Speaking of doing the proper amount of research, there are a number of different ways in which you can go about finding home remedies.  One of the easiest ways is to use the internet.  Online, there are a number of websites that are devoted to natural remedies and home remedies.  These websites often list a large number of home remedies for a number of different minor medical complications, including irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, the chicken pox, and so forth.  The information on most of these websites should be free to view.  You may also be able to find online message boards where other internet users are discussing home remedies, namely those that worked.

As for how you can find these online websites and message boards, your best option is to perform a standard internet search.  When doing so, you will want to target your search to exactly what it is you are looking for.  For example, if you are looking to seek relief from a painful migraine, search with a phrase such as “natural remedies for migraines,” or “natural remedies for headaches.”  This simple step will help to give you targeted results, which can reduce the amount of time that you have to spend searching.

Natural remedies can also be learned about by speaking with those that you know.  Typically, you will find the best success when speaking with someone older than you, like a parent or a grandparent.  This is because in the past more people relied on natural remedies than they did over-the-counter products and medications.

Another easy way to familiarize yourself with natural remedies is by buying a natural remedy or a home remedy book.  When doing so, you should have a number of books to choose from.  You may find the best success with books that are larger in size, as they often outline more remedies and cover more medical complications that can be treated naturally.  For the largest selection of natural remedy books and home remedy books, the internet should be examined, but a small number of these books are also sold locally in book stores as well.

As you can see, there are a number of different ways in which you can go about finding information on home remedies, including detailed directions for preparing a home remedy.  The next time that you find yourself looking for relief, try a home remedy, as opposed to an over-the-counter product.  Chances are you will be pleased with the results.

Dyslexia in Children, Dyslexia Symptoms and Lots of Famous People With Dyslexia

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Dyslexia is a neurological disorder in which the brain seems to be unable to properly interpret the signals it gets from the eyes and ears. Dyslexia usually shows itself as problems with reading, spelling and converting written symbols (letters) into words and sounds. It is a widespread condition with some 10-15% of the population exhibiting symptoms of some form of dyslexia.

In the last 25 years we have learned a great deal about dyslexia, especially in the last 15 years or so. Dyslexia in children is now routinely screened for and detected in elementary school and before. We now know that children with dyslexia learn differently and need special training to overcome the difficulties they might otherwise experience.

Those of us who finished grade school more than 15 years ago were not so lucky as to have been correctly diagnosed. Most dyslexics got branded as “slow learners” or “underachievers” and were stygmatized by this type of label. They felt shame and embarrassment and tried hard to conceal their differences.

It is estimated that up to 95% of adult dyslexics are still unaware of their condition. A simple easy-to-take dyslexia test could identify their condition and set them on the road to overcoming their dyslexia problem(s).

Dyslexia symptoms in adults include problems with reading, a reluctance to read anything aloud, difficulties in transcribing messages received by phone and being employed in positions below what their intelligence and experience would seem to warrant.

Most of what has been learned about dyslexia comes from clinical studies, focussing on the problems of dyslexia. However, there is also a positive side to dyslexia. Dyslexic people seem to learn to think in different ways from non-dyslexics. They learn to visualize the whole picture rather than the details of the parts. Many excel in fields where this is important, fields such as architecture, graphic arts, acting and business.

This phenomenon is so common and the trend is so pronounced that such people are said to be “blessed with dyslexia”! There are many, many famous people with dyslexia. Famous dyslexics include Jay Leno, talk show host and comedian, Anthony Hopkins, actor, Anderson Cooper, American journalist and entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.

The key point for adult dyslexics is to find out whether or not they are dyslexic. If you have any of the possible symptoms you should get tested as soon as possible. The sooner you know that dyslexia is a problem to you the sooner these problems can be overcome.

A close look at how diamonds are priced – let’s talk about clarity!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Today I’m going to have a look at one of the “4 C’s” of how diamonds are graded.  In case you don’t know, diamonds are graded in 4 main categories – cut, color, carat and clarity.  Let’s take a close look at the last one – clarity.

The clarity grading scale goes from IF (the best) down to I3 (the worst).  In total, there are 10 grades that a diamond can fall into.

Clarity looks at how many “inclusions” that are found in the diamond.  Basically, inclusions are small blemishes or imperfections.  They occur naturally when the rock is forming in the earth and they can be found in almost all diamonds.

When grading the diamond, a gemologist inspects the diamond under intense magnification to look at the inclusions that are present.  The grading is then submitted based on how many inclusions, and also how apparent or large they are.

As an example, a diamond that is given an IF grading has no inclusions at all.  This is incredibly rare, and as you can imagine, this type of diamond will have a huge price premium attached to it.

A stone with a grading of VS2 will have “very slight” inclusions – these will only be noticeable when viewed under a microscope and aren’t noticeable with just the naked eye.  These diamonds sell for a lot less that an IF graded diamond.

It’s important to familiarize yourself with the different ways diamonds are graded.  Grab a diamond ring buying guide - this will make a huge difference in the end as you can save a lot of money on your purchase.  It can be the difference between finding an affordable engagement ring instead of overpaying and putting a huge smile on your jewelers face.
