Skin Care For Your Baby

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

The market in baby care is a big business and it is growing larger too. In America alone baby care brings in around 7.5 billion dollars every year. Due to the baby care industry have gotten larger, mothers should now be more educated about what they are putting on their baby’s skin.

A baby’s skin is a lot different then adult skin and to the extreme that it needs some different care. This is similar to care market most of the time. Infant skin is formed before they are born so it is in the dark and it is in liquid until the baby is born. The baby’s skin needs to adjust to the world. When people age the skin thickens, so baby’s skin is very thin and has a fine texture. Therefore infant skin has many challenges to face to keep in moisture and protect itself from the environment.

You must try to keep your baby’s skin pH between 4 to 6, this will ensure that the acid mantel is surly supported. It is best to never use products that have animal products or any that have by-products. It is also a good idea to not use any fragrance because this can irritate the baby’s skin. Which this can be frequently confused with skin occassionally. You should be certain that any product that you are considering has been tested and is approved by a peadration and a dermatologist. There are many products that just stat that they are hypoallergenic and that they are recommended.

Some things that would be good for your baby’s skin is vitamin A, vitamin E, oat extract, and Shea butter. Be sure to use very mild soap when you clean your baby. Avoid at all costs Sodium Laural Sulfate this can clog the baby’s pores. Which this is not like skin many times. However you choose to take care of baby’s skin, enjoy bath time and the great time after.

Oriental Runner Rugs- 6 Key Factors For Oriental Runner Rugs

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Oriental runner rugs can be a huge asset to any living space. With oriental runner rugs you can turn a drab hardwood floor or hallway area into elegant surroundings your friends will be impressed with. The key is detemining which oriental runner rugs are right for you and your home. There are 6 factors you must consider when purchasing your runner.

  1. Your Surroundings- As simple as it may sound, this is a complex factor when choosing oriental runner rugs and will more than likely be the best starting point in making your choice. A runner can cover a bare area that you feel needs a touch of color, highlight a piece of accent furniture such as a coffee or endtable, lead visitors through a stretch of hallway, or compliment an existing area rug. No home is the same, so take a close look at your surroundings and soak in the view of the room. Other factors might include matching existing furniture or window dressings.
  2. Color of Your Oriental Area Rugs- Many people over-complicate this aspect of choosing oriental runner rugs, but selecting the color or tones really is a simple decision. The key factor here is choosing the color you feel best suits the room and makes you happy. After all, you will be the one enjoying this rug the most, so pick the colors that you are most satisfied with. Many professional “home decorators” may disagree, but then again… they don’t have to live there!
  3. Oriental Runner Rugs Style- The same holds true for choosing the style of the oriental runner rugs. Just like your home, each runner is unique in its style and texture and only you can decide which one will make you happy in your home.
  4. Quality- Many decorators overlook this aspect in choosing oriental runner rugs in their struggle to find the “perfect” rug for their home. In their haste to match colors and textures, they forget about durability, fading and ease of cleaning. You want your rug to last and stand up to the traffic it will eventually undertake.
  5. Price- Price and quality generally go hand-in-hand when selecting oriental runner rugs. Unless you’re purchasing an antique rug, there should be a distinct balance between the runner’s price and its quality. Cheap is hardly ever the right route to take when making this decision, but be cautious of over-pricing as well. Browse around and competitive price shop before laying down a ton of cash on a rug that isn’t worth the price tag attatched to it!
  6. Size- Size also plays a major part in your selection. The best way to determine the size you will need is to simply take a tape measure and determine the width and length of the area you want to cover. Be sure to set guidelines for the size. For example, if the area you are covering can be no larger than 27 inches wide by 128 inches long, and all you can find are oriental runner rugs 27″x 118″, then you may have to settle for this length. To avoid this frustration, another option would be to find a place that will cut the rugs to your specific dimensions. This is always the best route when selecting the oriental runner rugs that are right for you.

Keeping these 6 key factors in mind, you are armed with the neccessary info to selecting the perfect oriental runner rugs for you. Take the time to research these variables and you’ll be more than ready to buy oriental runner rugs!

Flower Necklace

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

In Hawaii, people make a flower necklace called a leigh. With this wearable craft, you can make a dazzling flower necklace, too.

Here is what you’ll need to make a flower necklace:

Flowers with stems (such as daisies)

To make a flower necklace, the first thing you’ll need to do is pick a lot of wild flowers and you’ll want them to have long stems, any long stemmed flower. (Be aware if you use dandelions, because the same yellow color that rubs off on your hands or chin can create a big mess.)

Here’s how to chain them together:

Take two flower stems at right angles. Loop the vertical stem around the horizontal one so it ends up alongside the horizontal stem.

Then lay a third stem at right angles to the two horizontal stems. Circle it around both horizontal stems. Next you’ll adding stems this way until your lei is as long as you want it. Tie the last stem to the first flower to make a rounded circle. Aloha!

Also you can make a flower necklace from cloth. Of course choosing the material of cloth that you use will make a difference in the appearance. A cloth flower necklace is a little more difficult because first you have to roll the cloth in the shape of a flower.

Let’s talk about the kind of cloth for your flower necklace. You’ll need to find the color and texture that you like. Colors vary a lot. Just go to a fabric store and you’ll see for yourself.

Texture of the fabric is also varied a lot. You can choose from silk, braided, corded, elastic, labels, lanyards, and many many more for your flower necklace.

Fancy a Bob Hair Style?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Bob hair styles – still one of the best hair styles around. This is a classic shape that can be adapted to suit almost everyone. Whether you have a round heart oval or long face this cut can be shaped layered coloured and trimmed to suit all of us.

Bob cut hair styles can be low maintenance too – a choppy cut  a la Meg Ryan i easy to maintain just wash blow dry then muss with some styling products. Admittedly stronger bob shapes like a classic blunt cut complete with brow skimming fringe , needs more care and probably fortnightly trips to your stylist to make sure no split ends ruin the look.

Heaps of celebrities are sporting bob hair styles at the moment, including Mina Suvari, she has gone very fashion forward with almost a pudding bowl cut, coloured bright blonde. Madonna too is choosing a softer shoulder length cut in darker blonde tones.

This truly is a hair style that is here to stay and the top stylists will always find a way to re invent what is a veritable classic, in fact in could be argued that most chin to shoulder length styles are a variation of some sort on a bob hair cut. Colour can help this style hugely - if you fancy a choppy bob highlights will enhance the texture of the cut, where as a more classic style can take an all over  colour. Think Kelly Osbourne in her black bob days. Remember your bob cut hair style will benefit from regular trips to the salon and make sure you use a good quality shampoo and conditioner at home in between visits. Also invest in good styling products to help keep your Bob hair style in tip top condition.

Cooking Thermometers: The Different Types

Friday, January 9th, 2009

If you do a lot of cooking at home, you definitely need a cooking thermometer. Some of the most basic cooking methods (grilling, roasting and baking) require a specific range of temperature to be maintained during the cooking process. Using the wrong temperature not only will affect the taste, texture and appearance of your food, it might also encourage the presence of food-borne microorganisms.

Learn about the different types of cooking thermometers to see which one is right for your kitchen:

There are essentially three major types of cooking thermometers based on function. These are:

Candy thermometers

Candy thermometers are designed for use with confectionery. They are generally used to determine the temperature of candy syrup. For people who make candies or pastries, this type of thermometer helps determine important ranges in temperature for candymaking. This type of thermometer, for example, will indicate whether your candy syrup has reached the soft ball or hard ball stage.

These instruments are also important for measuring the percentage of sugar found in candy syrup, a critical function for producing candies such as caramels and sugar lollipops. Candy thermometers are also important for the successful tempering of chocolate.

Cooking thermometers

Cooking thermometers are all-purpose instruments used to determine the temperature of prepared food.

Meat thermometers

Meat thermometers are used primarily for determining the temperature of meat. This is an important function, particularly because raw meat such as poultry and pork might carry food-borne pathogens that are harmful for human consumption unless exposed to ideal temperatures during cooking.

Types of cooking thermometers according to design

There are several ways a cooking thermometer takes the temperature of the food. These include:

Oven-safe cooking thermometers

If you need a cooking thermometer that gives continuous reading of the temperature of the food while it’s being cooked or if you simply get a kick out of watching the dial turn, this is the type of cooking thermometer you should buy. Stick it into the thickest portion of the food, place the food in an oven or grill and allow it to cook, checking out the temperature from time to time.

Digital cooking thermometers

If you prefer a cooking thermometer that gives you a reading in an instant, buy a digital thermometer. In most cases, these are designed as probes – you stick the device into the meat or food so it can take the internal temperature. Digital cooking thermometers are designed to take the temperature of the food after it’s done and should not be left in the food while it’s being cooked.

Thermocouple

This is the perfect type of cooking thermometer to use if you want an instant reading and only want to take food temperature when the food is nearly done. It’s also capable of producing a fast read (2 to 5 seconds) and can take accurate temperatures of food regardless of thickness. This type also tends to be rather expensive.

Wireless cooking thermometers

The wireless cooking thermometer consists of two parts: one is the probe which you stick into the meat or food that you put in the oven or grill and the other is the wireless control. The probe takes the temperature of the food while the control shows you how high or low the temperature is. Once the food or meat has reached the ideal temperature inside the oven, the control will alert you.

Disposable cooking thermometers

This type of cooking thermometer is perfect for one-time use. They’re relatively cheaper and are the best choice for people who don’t feel the need to invest in a good cooking thermometer. They can provide the temperature of the food very quickly. Once you’re done with one, you can simply throw it away.
